Stinking Thinking

One of my favorite statements is found in God’s Word, and it goes something like this, “as a man thinks in his heart so is he.” I’ve been pondering the importance of thoughts and I’m realizing more and more how important it is to guard and guide our thoughts.  It is so easy to get mentally sidetracked and actually lose ground because of STINKING THINKING.

Have you ever wondered what causes thoughts to get us off task, and moving in a direction that is actually contrary to our belief system?  Let’s take a look at a several lines of STINKING THINKING, and perhaps together we will make a conscious decision not to fall into these traps.

  • Focusing on and worrying about things you can’t control – from early childhood many of us, if not all of us have desperately tried to be in charge or take charge.  This actually becomes counterproductive as you work with others.  God’s Word invites us to focus on trusting and releasing, just the opposite of this STINKING THINKING process.  (Philippians 4:6)
  • Not sharing concerns and problems with others who may be able to support and help – it is very easy in our fast pace society to actually forget that there are others who are taking the same journey that we are taking.  God’s Word stands as an open compass inviting us to change our thinking by implementing Biblical principles.  Check out Hebrews 10:24-25.  We are encouraged to support each other, and actually strengthen each other in our daily walk.

Well, this gives us something to think about as we begin a new day, and perhaps finding time in the midst of a busy weekend to work on removing thoughts that do not promote a positive mental attitude.  May you be encouraged today to renew your mind in God’s Word, because as a man thinks in his heart so is he.

Be blessed today as you FOCUS on new thoughts and as you SHARE with others your daily walk.
